PsychxnauT: How an emerging NFT artist is viewed within his artworks

Eleni Doulgeraki

Trying to approach the ‘who’, the individual lying behind the artworks might be challenging. The physical presence of an artist living in our space and time is sometimes more than we need. Is the physical presence of an artist enough to make us understand the art or inspire us in any way? Where does the mystical experience in regards to the impact of an artwork really lie, in the artist’s creation or in our mind’s interpretation?  This was the nature of the threaded expressional concerns in my mind, in my endeavour to approach the NFT artist PsychxnauT, that very little was known to me about. Finding oneself in the middle of artworks might be scary sometimes. Τhat anguished challenge in an effort to grasp a metaphysical-spiritual experience and putting it in words that would make sense is enigmatic.

PsychxnauT and his NFT artworks are about how one transfers special feelings from mind to paper. He questions the artistic process itself by also trying to express and represent it through his art. In this article, I will try to reach the artworks themselves, rather than write a committed biographical report of the artist. At first glance, PsychxnauT’s NFTs emerge from a psychedelic and Sci-Fi universe. Their bright and illuminating colours, the way the forms play and position themselves around, the backgrounds, the themes used to create or recreate what is inside the artist’s mind and its experiences align themselves together in order to complete this wonderful artverse. The artworks, unique in their creation, give you the impression that they are not new, feels like we have seen them before. By that, I imply the pre-existing inner truth and feelings we all carry within. I would say that PsychxnauT greatly combines different worlds in the majority of these artworks. Imaginary worlds that collide with reality but at the same time exist in an endless form of recreational peace, right in between them.

Then, at a second glance, more questions arise in the eyes of the beholder. Questions driven by existential pre-locations of human nature, such as the nature of light and dark, which side we choose and whether dark is more of another way of being rather than an exclusively harmful state. In my eyes, his artworks bring the physical side of humanity, that side we experience in everyday life mixed with that of a higher spiritual being. We can see some of his NFTs tend to express the anger and the agony of an everyday survivor but we also see another spiritual force billowing and opening portals of communication with diverse recipients.

In the series with his intriguing aliens, a second look will give the notion that those aliens are not necessarily from outer space. Maybe their forms have begun as such but, later on, they became a procession of the creator’s inner self. What was really driving my attention was that NFT artwork where a monk and an astronaut share a space out of reach, an encounter that embodies the primarily existential agony of humanity on whether we are alone in this universe. Here a potential interpretation might arise, where one conducts the view of a person in its two potential versions: the physical explorer (the astronaut) and the higher alter ego of him being in full knowledge and awareness (the monk); both egos seem to embrace their existence in a peaceful dimension.

In conclusion, my point of view on his NFT art world is mainly that his metaverse expresses that inner truth and the huge potential of a human being who completes daily activities to reach and maximise his spiritual capabilities and create new worlds. All the above would not have happened if the NFT world would not have given the freedom of expression to those artists, allowing them to be truly heard, represented by their own voice in the art world and exhibited at different art events.
